I have been in the graphic and web design industry for ten years.
I have had the pleasure of creating brand identities & websites for several amazing clients from all over the world. However, in 2016 I saw a rapid growth in my business at a rate in which I had never experience.
This experience made me re-evaluate my career. I thought about my triumphs & failures as a business owner. I can only laugh now because I honestly believe that success always follows failure. However, here’s the cool part, I finally realized my worth as an entrepreneur and made a conscious decision to change my entire business model. I strategically positioned myself as the GO-TO for millennial entrepreneurs who are seeking brand clarity. I no longer wanted to be a brand designer solely. The desire to inspire, share my knowledge about branding, and be an influencer to my fellow millennial entrepreneurs became my priority.
I have worked tirelessly throughout the first quarter of this year on revamping my image which solidified my position in this market. As my father would say, I took the bull by the horns. My website was a major piece in the revamping phase. I released my new website to the general public on April 1, 2017. April Fool’s Day seemed to be the perfect day because I believed people would be skeptical but curious enough to visit the new website in spite of the traditional day of pranks. Boy oh’ boy was I right. I had over 1000 visitors on that day. To my surprise, I received enormous positive responses from family, friends, and colleagues. I submitted my website to the Web Guru’s Awards, an online awards platform for creatives by creatives. Uniqueness & creativeness play a significant role in whether or not you win or lose the competition. To my surprise, I won, and I won by a landslide.
On May 14, 2017, two days after my birthday, I became the Web Guru Awards Winner. How cool is that? That was a great birthday gift. Just to be honored by other creatives as a web guru as well as being recognized for my work was simply amazing. Being acknowledged by clients can be great but being recognized by your peers is that much better. I am very thankful, humble, grateful, and encouraged. I know that I that I am walking in the right direction to be the influencer to this millennial generation.
